Who we are
We are a family-run animal rescue charity based in Horsham, West Sussex.
Founded nearly 30 years ago, Holbrook Animal Rescue was set up to help abandoned and unwanted animals to find a safe place to call home. Unlike many other rescues, our dogs aren't kept in kennels. They sleep in the house and are free to run and play in our garden and fields.
Viewing is by appointment only.
Registered Charity No - 1181456

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ AND ACTION!
In reference to the planning meeting on 1st July 2025, and the rejection of our planning requests I would like to respond openly to you all.
Obviously, we are deeply disappointed with Horsham District Council, we did not get a fair hearing, as so many lies and exaggerations were made by the objector’s speakers. We kept to the truth and stand by this.
Unfortunately, the planning process allows no real time opportunity to rectify the lies. If we have to sell then the Rescues future is uncertain- it would take at least a year to get anywhere safe and prepared for all the animals that we give shelter to, by the time the appeal is heard, at least 6 months will have elapsed, leaving us with very little time left.
We have to put the welfare of our animals first, as we always have.
Thank you so much to all our supporters – it takes a brave stand to defend animal rights as passionately as you all do and you lend me the inspiration to continue.

Dog of the month
Meet Luna
Age - 10 months old
Female
Labrador mix
Luna has a lovely disposition; she is just great with the dogs at Holbrook. She is loyal and will not run off but she is a little nervous initially in situations that are new to her. She loves people once she gets to know you!
Luna needs an experienced and confident person that will have the ability to bring her with her confidence. She will need the luxury of two substantial walks each day and draw strength from a confident companion dog. Luna will need her new owner to be at home the majority of the time and have access to a good sized garden.
Can you give this lovely dog her forever home?

Sanctuary and Rehabilitation
Sanctuary animals are those that were considered ‘last chance’ this could be due to medical or behavioural issues that deemed them not fit for rehoming.
Rehabilitation dogs are those that we work with to restore their health or address behavioural issues through therapy and training, to teach them to trust again and to become the best that they can.
